Kristen lives directly east of the park. The football field is directly south of the park. The library sits on the line formed between Kristen’s home and the football field at the exact point where an altitude to the right triangle formed by her home, the park, and the football field could be drawn. The library is 2 miles from her home. The football field is 8 miles from the library. How far is library from the park? How far is the park from the football field?

I think it's A! A. 4 miles; 4sqrt 5miles B. 10 miles; 3sqrt 2miles C. 5 miles ; 9 miles D. 4miles; 3sqrt 2miles

Got it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it was right anyway i see well i hope i wont know until my teacher grades it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

use similarity to find the values here PL/LF = LH /PL or PL*PL = LF *LH or PL = sqrt(8*2)= 4

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now we can use the Pythogarass theorem to find PF PF^2= PL^2 + LF^2 or PF=sqrt(64+16)=sqrt(80) = sqrt(4*4*5)= 4*sqrt(5)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so may be A
