The height is 50 cm and the radius is 22 cm. Find the volume of the cylinder minus the hemisphere.

I just want to check the formulas volume of cylinder = \[\Pi r ^{2} h \] and volume of hemishpere= \[2/3 \Pi r ^{3}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is this correct?

OpenStudy (lyrae):

Both formulas are correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes so I think I got it right v. of cylinder =75988 v. of hemishpere = 22289.81333 by subtracting = 53698.2

thanks @Lyrae

OpenStudy (lyrae):

Don'f forget to divide the volume of the hemispere by 2 if you're calculating the blue volume. If you look in the picture you'll see only half of the hemispere is in the cylinder, so you should only subtract half of its volume.

I see what you are saying is correct , thanks but here are the choices A) 53,698.2 cc B) 161,094.6 cc C) 214,792.8 cc D) 415,818.0 cc
