y=(x+1)(6x-6)-6x^2

Distribute the (x+1)(6x-6) to get 6x^2+12x+6. The 6x^2 cancels with the (-6x^2) . In the end, you only have 12x+6 .. This is a linear equation. A quadratic would still be raised to the second power.
