Why is it when I was trying to get an ambassador and/or moderator to the chats that no one ever came? There was a giant fight going on.
Well how did you try to get them to the chats?
I messaged them.
You can report the person as well, but eh sometimes they aren't on and are busy. Sucks you had to view the fight :|. But, it's always best to report the people fighting. The mods will get there when they can.
Thanks
they are to busy relyping to stupid comments
Comments meaning, trying to keep this site in order. If you have a problem with any user or see misuse, report it. Moderators try to get to everything they can in one day. Ambassadors can try to reach chats, but be aware we do not get the notifications of reports. You can message one asking them to come and help. Also you can do the same with a moderator. Hopefully everything was resolved :)
To be honest... most of us don't really care about the chat. It's a pain to moderate this place because we'd have to read the entire conversation to have an idea of what was going on at that time. We don't always have time to check on every bully and that sorta stuff. Language abuse is usually taken care of quickly after the report though. So if there are trolls/bullies in the chat, just ignore them. It's the best way to deal with them.
^^ Agree with Thomaster. The chats soak up an enormous amount of time and effort to moderate. Sometimes it's obvious - when someone swears and the reporter actually manages to report the right chat (you'd be surprised how often people report a non-offensive post by the same person with no explanation, and the mods are left wondering why it was reported), we can deal with it. But trying to pick back through a scrolling (often very quickly scrolling) conversation takes up more time than the troll is often worth. And it is like stuffing a smoke genie back in a lamp - we push on one side and they pop out the other with a fake account, etc. The chats detract a lot more from the site than they add; I've been proponent for years for tougher chat moderation abilities, such as suspend chat privileges for some users or only grant it to users of certain standing. Or get rid of the chat rooms entirely. Or consolidate them into one site wide chat.
