A 0.59kg billiard ball initially at rest is given a speed of 15m/s during a time interval of 5.0ms . What average force acted on the ball during this time?

Hi! Do you have any thoughts or work to start with?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I used the equation F=mv/t: \[F=0.59kg(15m/s)/(.005s)\] i still got the wrong answer idk what im doing wrong

OpenStudy (theeric):

Me neither... If it's a computer asking you this, significant figures will be important.

OpenStudy (theeric):

Your answer should have two significant figures. You're multiplying and dividing, so you want to look for the amount of significant figures in the number with the least significant figures. They all have two sig. fig.s, so your answer should have two. Is that correct?

:O perfect. thanks! ;)

OpenStudy (theeric):

Haha, you're welcome! :)
