What do you guys think... was McCarthy helpful in keeping America safe from communism, or was he a danger to America and the values it stands for, like freedom, liberty, and justice?

McCarthy was a danger to the United States and the values it stands for such as freedom, liberty, and justice. He didn't help keep America safe from communism because he went after people who were not communist and wasted time.

He also incited fear in the American people. They no longer knew who was Communist or who was not. They couldn't really trust anyone, because they never knew for sure.

I don't think he was an American hero at all.  I just wanted to see if anyone had any evidence to prove he was "helpful in keeping America safe" which is completely invalid.
