You can think it like this. Function is decreasing as x is increasing, so its slope is negative. And when y =4 ---> x=2. So magnitude of slope |m|=|y/x|=2. It passes through origin. That means it is not shifted upwards or downwards, so n = 0. A linear function has the formula y = mx + n where m is slope and n is how much it is shifted upwards. y = -2x + 0 y = -2x
