Kaden is correct, because hyenas are called scavengers, which really means that they eat dead animals.

blanca1, I am not sure about the context in which this question is asked, but my opinion is that all animals including humans need plant to survive. The rationale behind my opinion is that although hyenas are scavengers,as correctly pointed out by Ashley, but still they belong to a 'food chain'. I mean to say herbivores eat plants and carnivores generally eat herbivores. So all carnivores are indirectly dependent upon plants for their survival. Besides plants also provide shelter to all animals from extreme temperature, which is also a requirement for survival. In this sense, Justin seems to be correct. But this is entirely my personal view.
