How are alloys useful to us.

Alloys improve or change the characteristics of the base material. It can change the characteristics so that the alloy has greater strength, better thermal transfer, improved malleability, harder, softer, lighter, etc.

Example is alloy wheels to have the wheels be lighter. With lighter wheels, the car can actually reach a higher speed. If you look at the rotational kinetic energy and moment of inertia in basic physics, you could figure this out.
