If that's what you're trying to prove or tell about in your paper, then yes. Your theory should always be stated in your first paragraph to give the reader an idea or "theory" about what you're going to tell them. It should also be in your concluding paragraph to remind your reader what you were trying to prove. Theories are your stance on what you are going to tell your reader and what you're trying to prove to them, depending on the type of paper.
