MIT 6.189 A Gentle Introduction to Programming Using Python (OCW) 15 Online
OpenStudy (anonymous):

how does this work? i didn't "register" for anything - just downloaded the materials and read chapter 1. now what? will there be assignments, etc? on a timed basis?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You go at your own pace, most courses have assignments and quizes. Personally I prefer the courses with the lectures and assignments. 6.00 2011 is a great starting point that also uses python

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So i just go through the reading material til i say "i'm done" with the course?

OpenStudy (jlg030597):

welcome to Open Study

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, so it's not actually a "course". got it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That one may not be, but check out http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/electrical-engineering-and-computer-science/6-00sc-introduction-to-computer-science-and-programming-spring-2011/ It's a beginning course also, with video lectures that work a lot better for some people (like me) There are still assignments and tests that you can do at your own pace, but any reading is purely voluntary

OpenStudy (anonymous):

interesting. and it has a "get started" button... so just click it and go at my own pace?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yep. and check back here if you run into any issues or have questions along the way.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey..how and where can i download this software??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sanju22, not "software" but reading material. and i forgot where i got it. =(
