UK was, to say the least, almost losing WWII. The British Expeditionary Forces has just been pushed out of France, a huge blow to the British Empire's pride; however, he salvaged what was left of it in Dunkirk. He then defended it with his amazing "We Will Fight Them On The Beaches" speech. Churchill was chosen to unify the three major parties in the Cabinet; he was just assigned the position of First Admiralty of the Fleet. The Three Parties, the Liberals, the Conservatives and the Labor, were quite divided at the time, and it was believed that Churchill would unify them. He unified Britain.
