What do we call the Constitutional amendments that protect the rights of the individual?

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

The first 10 Amendments to the Constitution were passed fairly quickly after the Constitution was ratified. Some people who were against the Constitution's ratification were worried because it did not have a Bill of Rights like the English had. Supporters of ratification agreed that a Bill of Rights could be added after ratification. 12 Amendments were proposed. 10 of them where ratified so the the US had a Bill of Rights attached to the Constitution.
