So basically what you have is a vector...and a vector has both a horizontal..and a vertical component...

To break a vector INTO those components...you multiply the magnitude of the vector (4 here) by the angle it makes with the horizontal (8 here)

To find the VERTICAL component it will be 4sin(8)   since sin looks at vertical
And to find the HORIZONTAL component it will be 4cos(8) since cos looks at horizontal
