See how your equation isn't written in y=mx+b form? In this form, m represents the slope. So your equation,y=4x+2, 4 is the slope. REMEMEBER: the slope of the line perpendicular to a line is the negative reciprocal. Or the product of the 2 slopes would equal -1 So 4. The reciprocal would be 1/4 and negative would be -1/4 So the slope of the line perpendicular is -1/4 To check, 4 x -1/4= -1
