Determine whether the given function is even, odd, or neither. f(x)=5x^2+x^4.

hartnn (hartnn):

a function f is even when f(-x) = f(x) a function f is odd when f(-x) = - f(x) so your first step is to find f(-x) replace every 'x' by '-x' what do u get ?

OpenStudy (whpalmer4):

A handy trick when doing the f(-x) step: just change the signs of the terms with an odd exponent, and leave the others alone.
