Describe the flow of energy from one trophic level to another energy pyramid ? Am I correct ??? Between each tier up to 90% of the energy is lost as heat to the atmosphere, meaning only 10% energy left can transfer from one trophie level to another. The unit of measurement used to describe the amount of energy at each trophie level is the kilocalorie
Energy from sunlight to producer = about 1% this energy is used by producer and from producer only 10% or even less is passed on to the next tropic level from next tropic level again around 10% is passed on to the next one and so on till the energy is finish and so the food chain ends 90% of energy is not only released as heat into atmosphere rather they are Used in metabolic processes such as respiration, also some parts of producer might not be digested (cellulose), also some is lost in excretion and lots of other metabolic reactions
