describe how marco polos travels along the Silk Road helped reawaken interest in classical ulture

OpenStudy (wwhitlock):

It was not Marco Polo's travels that had an effect on the world. Plenty of other merchants traveled the Silk Road in both directions. The world changer was his book. Polo told a good story. Some modern scholars doubt that Polo actually went as far as he claimed or did all the he said he did. But that is only important in detail. Perhaps he added the experiences of other travelers, or just stories told to him by other people he met. The resulting story hit the book shelfs of the literate medieval world and created a fad. Well it wasn't a very big fad. Not that many people could read or afford books when compared with today. Anyway, the dull boring world of the Middle Ages had something new to talk about. At least the rich people did, anyway.
