How do I add and subtract fractions with different denominators? :)

OpenStudy (henriquerb):

1/3 + 1/5 First you find the least common multiple, in this example 15. This number will be your new denominator. (1*a)/15 + (1*b)/15. a= 15/3 and b= 15/5, so a=5 and b = 3. So, 1/3 + 1/5 = (1*5)/15 + (1*3)/15= 5/15 + 3/15 = 8/15. You do the same with subtractions. If you don't understand my explanation, please, let me know, then I'll try again =)
