What's the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

are you trying to find what x is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if you are then @GloriaSCastillo is correct

OpenStudy (anonymous):

5(x+1)=3x-25 5x+5=3x-25 2x+5=-25 2x=-30 X= -15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is -10. You have to distribute the 5 to x and 1. Then the equation becomes 5x+5=3x-20 Then you can subtract 5 from both sides. Now the equation is 5x=3x-20. Next you can subtract 3x from both sides. After doing that the equation is now 2x=-20. Now all you do is divide -20 by 2 and you get -10.

OpenStudy (arabpride):

Distributive Property: 5(x+1)=3x-25 5x + 5 = 3x - 25 Combine Like Terms: 5x + 5 = 3x - 25 -3x -3x 2x + 5 = -25 -5 -5 Divide on both sides: 2x = -30 /2 /2 x = -15 *^.^*
