If I is the intensity of principal maximum in single slit diffraction pattern, then what will be intensity when slit width is doubled?

OpenStudy (vincent-lyon.fr):

When you work out the amplitude diffracted by the slit, the amplitude for θ = 0 is proportional to slit area. So when width is doubled, amplitude is doubled. Now, since intensity is proportional to amplitude squared, then intensity will be four fold.
