Writing a note to a friend. You always want to use correct pronunciation and grammar on essays, let alone exams. A job application you want to be professional, and text speak doesn't really scream professional. Lastly, if you use proper pronunciation and grammar when emailing a teacher for help, you would show you really do want the teacher's help.
