NEED HELP ASAP Describe how the graphs of y= |x| and y=|x| - 15 are related.

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

The second one is 15 lower than the first.

OpenStudy (staceyg):

Hold on I'll show you the choices

OpenStudy (anonymous):

recall that the general form of a line is\[Y=mx+b\]where m is the slope, and b is the y intercept, therefore the second function is just\[Y=\left| x \right|\]shifted 15 units down

OpenStudy (staceyg):

The graphs have the same shape. The y-intercept of y = |x| is 0, and the x-intercept of the second graph is -15. Could this be the answer? @Embryo

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

"THE" x-intercept? No. There are two.

OpenStudy (staceyg):

So that answer but replace the " x-intercept of the second graph" with the y-intercept?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

Not quite making sense. y = |x| x-intercept (0,0) y-intercept (0,0) y = |x| - 15 x-intercept (15,0) and (-15,0) y-intercept (0,-15) Not sure what else to tell you.

OpenStudy (staceyg):

I was stating the answer choices. Would the answer be the answer I stated first but replaced with x intercpt with y?

OpenStudy (tkhunny):

You'll have to decide. Your descriptions of the answer choices aren't meaning much, so far.

OpenStudy (staceyg):

Alright, thanks anyways :)
