giving a medal for first answer: how do you solve for a determinant of a matrix? please give example.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if this is your matrix\[\left[\begin{matrix}a & b \\ c & d\end{matrix}\right]\]then the determinant of your matrix is\[ad-bc\]it gets more complex for the determinant of anything larger than a 2x2 matrix, but note that you can only take the determinant of square matrices, that means they have to be MxM matrices

what about a 3x3 matrix?
