A manufacturer is designing a two-wheeled cart that can maneuver through tight spaces. On one test model, the wheel placement (center) and radius is modeled by the equation (x + 1.5)2 + (y + 1)2 = 9. What is the graph that shows the position and radius of the wheels?

This probably won't help clear things up but in the equation: (x + 1.5)2 + (y + 1)2 = 9 Shouldn't that read: (x + 1.5)² + (y + 1)² = 9 Or is it just being multiplied by 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's squared

Thanks Shay that REALLY clears things up (no not really!!!)

I have no idea what that equation does nor do I know what the graph shows. SInce I bothered to do this when x = 1.279 and y = 1.279 then the equation totals 9.001841 when it should be about 9. That doesn't help one bit does it?
