so I have a lab to do but a bit confused I have to do the whole vinegar and baking soda deal but it says will heat be released or absorbed???? do I heat up the vinegar or something???

The question is, is there heat being released by the reaction (is it getting warmer when the vinegar and baking soda mix) or is there heat being absorbed by the reaction (is it getting cooler over time)? A thermometer would be most useful here, just measuring the temperature over time. If it gets lower, the heat is absorbed. If the temperature goes up, the heat is released.
