Need help on a short essay please Was WW2 a continuation of WW1? is the topic it has to be 2 paragraphs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi :), i had to do this same essay

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Here's the long answer: Saying that WWII was a continuation of WWI makes WWII seem inevitable, which it was not. World War II was not fought over the same issues as World War I. It involved different nations in different ways. Yes, Germans, and especially Adolf Hitler, were very upset with the terms of the Treaty of Versailles. However, it was in no way inevitable that Germany would respond aggressively. In fact, had it not been for Hitler's rise to power, which was as much a matter of luck as it was public support, the Second World War might never have happened. So saying the two are the same war drastically oversimplifies matters. There is a strong element of contingency that should not be ignored.

and yeah i can help with another question

OpenStudy (sleepyjess):

has he done 8.01 yet?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah hes pretty much done with the class i think

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its a yes and question. The treaty was unfair to the Germans who didnt start WW1 but was punished as if they did; such as most of the war debt that left the majority of Germans poor. Now Hitler who is a vet and served in the trenches found a small political party that had similar views as him and had opportunity to rise in there hierarchy to be there leader. Now this leads to the next problem. In WW1 the airplane was improved significantly which led to civilian airlines to emerge that helped Hitler to go from place to place to run for Chancellor of Germany. Once that happened he gave himself absolute power changed the government, dissolved the brown coats to create the S.S.

Its a yes and no * question

@that1guywhoplaysclash answer is also correct it is a yes or no question, really i think comes down to your opinion, i think they want you to have an opinion and use the essay to support it
