What is a telescope? I need a long response

A telescope is an instrument that aids observation of remote objects by collecting the electromagnetic radiation, which an example of it would be visible light. Within a few decades of the first, the reflecting telescope was then invented, it required mirrors. Many others were invented too, such as the radio telescopes in the 1930's, and infrared telescopes in the 1960's.
