What figure of speech is being used in this line? "The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas." A. Hyperbole because the poet is exaggerating the cloudy sky. B. Metaphor because the moon is being compared to a galleon. C. Personification because the moon is acting like a person. D. Simile because the moon is being compared to a sea.

Personification is when a writer makes it sound like a non-living object has person-like features. Such as "The car was being temperamental". Cars can't react in a humanly state like that, so that would be personification. I don't think that in this sentence personification is used. I would agree with anonymous_user and say it is a metaphor.

Why is the following an example of personification: "The alarm clock shouted at me as it alerted me to get up." A. An alarm clock can not literally shout. B. The clock was a cartoon. C. The clock was perceived as loud. D. The clock was what awoke the narrator.

okay when i was growing up we had alot good life but my mom had a surgery after 3 years she got sick from it and i was about 4 wen she got sick im the youngest out of 5 2 girls 3 boys my dad left my mom and my mom wasnt able to work any more we lost everything and my oldest brother was like a father to me he took care of us all even my mom and my mom had got really really sick and one night my brother was at his friends house nd he was shot 3 times and died that night my heart died i wasnt that fun little boy no more i was so different i was mean i wasnt as sweet anymore and that happen when i was 9 5 years later my mom died when i was 14 i was there.... i really died there i couldnt do good i was so gone and felt so dead inside i cut myself i did alot of stupid stuff

oh no... :( Well, Moises... everyone has their hardships in life, the thing is hard places don't last forever and it takes a strong person to make it through the storms that life has. Those storms make us stronger people though. :)
