Kersha has two jobs. During the day she works as an office clerk, and in the evening she works as a cashier. Her office job pays her $12.00 per hour. Her cashier job pays her $8.25 per hour. In one week, Kersha worked 55 hours. She earned a total of $585. Let c represent the number of hours Kersha works as an office clerk. Which equation can be used to find how many hours Kersha worked in both jobs? A. 12c + 8.25(55 – c) = 585 B. 8.25c + 12(55 – c) = 585 C. 12c + 8.25(c – 55) = 585 D. 12c + 8.25(585 – c) = 55

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The correct equation is 12c + 8.25(55 - c) = 585 Do you know how I got that?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no not really.. :/...can you explain it to me please?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the correct answer would be a i believe

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay, look Kersha works x hours in job one and z hours in job 2. job 1 earns $12/h. job two earns $8.50/h. correct? and she worked for 55 hours total. and earned $585. This is how my tutor showed me its seems pretty confusing but you should be able to get it =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i don't get why it says im not here when i am.. but okay.. but i want to know how can i get that answer..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

K

Well, if you want to check if that's the right answer, play Plug N Chug. Your equation is 12x + 8.50z = 585 so plug in 35 for x and 20 for z. (Plug N Chug was stupid for me but my mentor said always keep it in mind)
