do you know if anything is parallel or ....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you have to do in here I guess is set a proportion

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can i assume that ba and rs are parallel??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and of course they are parallel

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oops sorry. it is given that ab is parallel to rs

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well if i can assume that then the proportion would be: 2 / x(SC) = 5 / 10. We know this because Triangle ABC is similar to Triangle RSC. Corresponding sides of similar triangles are in proportion. if we cross multiply we get 20 = 5x. If we divide by 5 on both sides we get x = 4. Hope this was helpful!
