Need some help with geometric series

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I've already done 1-2, but the third question is what's getting me. I'm not sure exactly what it's it asking, and I'm not sure how to use that formula.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Also The average common ratio of ball 1 is 0.8 The average common ratio for ball 2 is 0.64 The average common ratio for ball 3 is 0.29

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's asking, in a somewhat confusing way, for you to add the 5 heights. You need to use the summation formula to do it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ah, alright. Also, if you don't mind my asking, what do I plug in for each variable in the summation formula?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

To use the formula, a1 is the value of the first term. r is the common ratio in the series. n is the number of terms you want to add up (might need to be the number you want to add minus one, trying to find a resource to check).

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nope, n is just the number of terms you want to add up.

Thanks ^-^

My pleasure :)
