The heights of female students at a northeastern college are approximately normally distributed with mean 64.5 inches and standard deviation 1.8 inches. According to the normal distribution, what is the approximate percentage of female students with heights between 62 and 63 inches? Round your answer to the nearest integer.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

do you have to table it, ot ti83 it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ti83

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ti83 makes life simple :) you have a distribution menu: 2nd, VARS. choose normalCDF function

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the input for the function is (low, high, mean, sd)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

so ... normalCDF(62, 63, 64.5, 1.8) gives us the probability needed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So I choose 2nd and then enter the numbers in parenthesis?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yep

OpenStudy (amistre64):

seperated by commas of course

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I received an error message as my result.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh wait, I received 80/20

OpenStudy (amistre64):

then you made an error while inputing make sure it looks like this: normalCDF(62, 63, 64.5, 1.8)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i dont have my ti83 handy so the wolf gives us a dbl chk http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=normalcdf%2862%2C63%2C64.5%2C1.8%29
