A 0.1-kilogram ball rolls across the floor at a speed of 2 meters per second. Another 0.1-kilogram ball rests on a shelf 1 meter above the floor. Which ball has more energy?
i think the one above the ground, just cant remember the free-fall formula, it had gravity in it , distance and mass
kinetic energy is given by \(E_k=\frac{1}{2}mv^2\) (use this to calculate for the rolling ball) while gravitational potential energy is given by \(E_g=mgh\)(use this to calculate for the ball at rest) and btw, welcome to open study;)
thanks @Chibi_Robo3 in the first instance the energy will be 0.2 and in the second 1 ?
if we take g=10m/s2
yeah:) and also don't forget the units
excellent, how do you still remember these formulas , genius!
oh wait, for the first one it's \(v^2\) so it will not be 0.2 J
i'm taking physics 12 right now
ohh, i took it 30 years ago ;)
old fart now
ooh i see
