What happens in the G2 phase of the cell cycle?

chromosome number is duplicated and then mitosis occurs (from 46 to 92) (then after mitosis each of the two daughter cells get 46 chromosomes)

The cell continues with its regular growth and prepares for division. What @somy said doesn't happen.
