The Marshal Plan was to help rebuild nations devastated during wwII. This was a more aggressive policy than the neutrality the US adopted after WWI. These world wide wars showed us the necessity of a global economy. Countries left in ruin in Western Europe would be easy prey not only for Communists but any authoritarian minded leader.
