Hello again :3 So, using the information from what your learning, the snail 20 minutes to move in a straight line across 5 checkerboard spots. If you don't mind me asking, may I know what is confusing you?

OpenStudy (leilanilane):

it took the snail* :S sorry lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

my problem is the I don't understand too much english

OpenStudy (leilanilane):

Oh...:3 Happens that I'm much better with language then with math So you're just not understanding what they are saying and what it means? Correct?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

OpenStudy (leilanilane):

Okie Dokie Well, the "language" of math so to speak is much different then actually...language. The words have different meanings when talking about math. Since I am in 8th grade it will be a little hard to simplify this because it is very simplified to me but, I will try. :3 I remember being confused about this stuff, I found it rather boring. I still do lol. So what we are talking about here, is the very beginning of a topic that you'll probably be learning later on. That checkerboard you see there will later be known as a coordinate plane. What your learning has to do with graphing. But, since telling you what I'm learning will definitely not help, lol, I'll talk about what your learning. This, is simply the idea of motion. You'll eventually learn more about motion and the different kinds of energy, in science class. Math and science begin to merge together as you learn more. The line that the snail went in, will later be known as a slope. Graphs, and slopes, don't end. Your snail went at a slope of 0 because the slope was not tipped upward or downward. Your also learning about speed and how its measured. Also about time. The phrase miles per hour is a measuring of time and speed. So lets use the example 5 miles per hour. This it will take an hour before your car has gone roughly 5 miles from the starting point. The starting point will be 0 because the car has gone 0 miles in 0 amount of time.

OpenStudy (leilanilane):

This means*

OpenStudy (leilanilane):

Also, with graphs, the direction can change. But that is a little to hard for me to explain since you don't know about quadratic function and other things like that yet. Have I helped any? Or did I just make it even more confusing? :/

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank you very much for help me and God bless you.

OpenStudy (leilanilane):

You're welcome! :3 Anytime blanca1. May God bless you. ;D
