You are walking through a garden and see pea plants with purple blooms. Can you tell what phenotype they are.

Not a physics question, so you may want to double check with the biology guys, but I'd say that are homozygous dominant, or homozygous recessive. If both the recessive gene and the dominant gene were somewhere in the gene pool of the garden, you'd expect to see a variation in the colors expressed by the garden. But I don't think you can narrow it down beyond that.
