if it is said that a farmer wants to create a rectangular field of area. She has 20000m^2 with a river forming one side of the field, and the remaining 3 sides to be fenced, what dimensions should the field have in order to minimize the cost of fencing?

Hi guys Ja I finally got the answer to my question as I tried my best to work and get it, for those who might be interested on knowing what is it that was needed: As we were given the AREA(A=xy=20000), it was is to commute the PERIMETER (P=2x+y) so that we can have 2 equations, from that you can ELIMINATE 1 of thy variables by making one of them, either x or y be the subject of the formula, i.e A=xy and then plug it to this equation so that you can remain with only 2 variables. After all that, APPLY YOUR 1st and your 2nd Derivatives to get your values(dimensions) when it is a minima. Sharp guys enjoy your studies...
