Whats the difference between an Accent and a Marcato?

The marcato marking is a variation of a sforzando. The marcato needs a strong attack and a quick decay. The accent is that, an accent. It is a quick increase in sound, than backs off. ~yahoo lol

well the major difference would be that a marcato is a strong emphasis on a note and an accent is just a note that is emphasized and the way you put it @beccaboo333 im sorry but thats not such a great explanation for what an accent and a marcato truly is
