The height of the larger triangle is 3x that of the small triangle. If the area of the larger triangle is 500 square units, what is the area of the smaller triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a = (1/2) b h if only the height is increased by 3x then the area is increased by 3x if the base is also increased by 3x then the area is increased by 9x

So I would just divide 500 by 3 to get the total area of the smaller triangle?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes

Ok, thanks a bunch!
