help i will give a medal!! two consecutive odd integers for 236. whats the smallest integer?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

First some terminology, two consecutive odd integers are two integers that are right after the other with a difference of 2 so x + (x + 2) = 236 Use the distributive property: 2x + 2 = 236 and subtract 2 from both sides and get 2x = 234 so smallest integer is 117

It should be the additive property because x and x is 2x
