a type of deductive reasoning used to arrive at a conclusion. I think of some of the lessons I learned in geometry when I think about syllogism. an example from wikipedia is All men are mortal. Socrates is a man. Therefore, Socrates is mortal You use a general statement and a more specific statement to arrive at a conclusion
