88+x=3(x+22)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are we trying to find x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If yes, here's a Hint: Its Higher than 10 but less than 20.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Just substitute one of them numbers into the problem for X and which ever one comes out to a true equation is your answer.

OpenStudy (texaschic101):

88 + x = 3(x + 22) use the distributive property.....multiply 3 by everything in the parenthesis to get rid of the parenthesis 88 + x = 3*x + 3*22 88 + x = 3x + 66 -- subtract 88 from both sides 88 - 88 + x = 3x + 66 - 88 -- combine like terms x = 3x - 22 -- subtract 3x from both sides x - 3x = 3x - 3x - 22 -- combine like terms -2x = -22 -- divide both sides by -2 -2x/-2 = -22/-2 x = 11 you can even check your answer.. 88 + x = 3(x + 22) 88 + 11 = 3(11 + 22) 99 = 3(33) 99 = 99 (correct) x = 11 I tried to put down all steps so you could understand, but if you have any questions, please ask
