Help please? I do not understand it!

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

I have 2! can you help me? I think this one is C!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C is correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@undeadknight26 - C is correct!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

your right

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

One more please? I have no idea on this one ;-;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I would say A:24 I think that each temperature is considered an element, so the answer is probably A.

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

Can you tell me how you got to that answer?

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

what does the U mean?!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Sorry, but I honestly do not know what the U means. I think the U means something similar to "combined".

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

@AravindG do you know what the U means?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If each temperature is one "element", then there are 24 elements(12 for Tampa and 12 for Orlando.)

OpenStudy (aravindg):

First fin A U B.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

U represents "union". You write all elements in A and B together as a set keeping in mind not to repeat any 1 element again.

OpenStudy (aravindg):

Then just count the number of elements :)

undeadknight26 (undeadknight26):

So what happens when there is an upside down U?

OpenStudy (aravindg):

That means intersection. Then u only have to write the common elements in both sets.
