ound a link for you; it claims Washington was not highly intelligent, but did assemble from his brilliant and philosophical contemporaries a strong vision for the new nation. Another quality that really seemed to stand out, at least according to this link, was his principles... the people around him felt they could trust him, that his leadership was unmixed with issues of self-interest and self-aggrandizement. Still a third quality was his endurance... he did not allow difficult times to shake his vision.
