For your first problem you subtract 64 from both sides giving you -64 = 2x\[2x ^{2}\]
\[-64 =2x^{2}\]

divide both sides by two \[\frac{ -64 }{ 2 }=\frac{ 2x^{2} }{ 2 }\]
-32 = \[x^{2}\]
