when the bonds between the atoms of a molecule break, what form of energy is released

OpenStudy (usman1995):

it's potential energy cuz it's the stored energy K.E can't be stored and this P.E is in the form of heat.....so it's Heat energy what u get by breaking a bond.. Clear??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah ! Basically it is the Potential energy . But, It is called in a different way for different molecules such as Hydration energy, Lattice energy ,etc

OpenStudy (masumanwar):

The energy is taken to form any bond is form of thermal energy so it should be thermal energy
