I have some questions from my study guide i need help on, 1.) List the steps of the lytic infection 2.)list the steps of the lysogenic infection. 3.) What is the function of proteins on the surface of a protein or in the viral capsid? 4.) Compare and contrast a virus with a cell.
well cells need energy, viruses don't. Cells are living organisms, viruses aren't. Cells contain orangells, viruses don't.
thanks!
I'm not sure about the third one Sorry >.< The lysogenic cycle occurs only in temperate phages, such as bacteriophage-λ. 1. Phage attaches to the host cell and injects its DNA. 2. Phage DNA circularizes (similar to a plasmid) 3. Phage DNA is integrated into the host cell DNA via recombination. (At this point, the phage DNA is referred to as a prophage.) 4. Prophage is reproduced along with host DNA each time the cell replicates. The prophage may continue in this state indefinitely. 5. In rare circumstances, the prophage may excise itself from the host DNA and enter the lytic cycle.
That's my exact notes from last week and I forgot about the first one >.<
thank you! ;D
Lol anytime >.<
So for the first one lytic infection is basically just Attachment, penetration, biosynthesis, maturation, release
i have a bunch of bio i need help on XD
I can try >.< I'm in biology right now so, it's still semi-fresh
okay well i will post them up soon i still need to copy haha
lol okay >..<
