I'm not sure if the mirrors are specifically at 90 degree angles because, I didn't see anything on your paper mentioning that o.o

Typically mirrors in periscopes are oriented at 45° to the incoming light.  Because of the Law of Reflection (angle of incidence = angle of reflection), the incoming light is bent 90°( angle reflection + angle of incidence = 45° + 45°= 90°.  Likewise light is bent another 90° at the second mirror.
